Now Let's dive straight into it.
Lugg Moving is an on-demand moving service headquartered in San Francisco. The company links independent movers with people and businesses that need to deliver things quickly and comfortably. Lugg has named itself the go-to service for cross-town furniture moving and local delivery of big-box retail purchases. It is known mainly for connecting people with local movers with pickup trucks, cargo vans, and Box trucks through its website and mobile application.
When booking a Lugg, you can choose from one of four options:
Lugg Pickup
Lugg Van
Lugg XL
Lugg Box
Lugg's labor pricing is calculated based on duration (charged per labor minute) and the type of vehicle you select. The timer starts when the Luggers (movers) arrive at the address you entered as the pick-up location on the website or within the Lugg app.
Once the items are loaded, the labor costs pause during transit and resume at drop-off. The labor charges conclude when the movers finish the work.
Suppose you buy a couch on Facebook marketplace and enter the following pickup and drop-off locations:
Pick up address: 20th St. in San Francisco
Drop-off address: San Bruno Supermarket
The next step is to select which delivery option works best for you.
Lugg lite is perfect if you are willing and able to help with the heavy lifting. You get one lugger and a pickup truck with a 6ft flat bed.
$32 base price + $0.95 per labor minute
The timer starts when your Lugg reaches the pick-up location - 3490 20th St. That means any small initial chit-chat or breaks during the pickup will affect your final price since you're paying by the minute.
If it takes 30 minutes to load the couch in the vehicle at the pick-up location, you will spend 30 x $0.95 = $28.50.
If it takes 20 minutes to off-load the couch into a room of your choice at the drop-off location, the cost would be 20 x $0.95 = $19.
In this case, the total Labor cost of using the Lugg Lite option would be:
$28.50 at pickup + $19 at drop-off for a total of $47.50 in labor costs. Add the base price of $32 and your all out cost is $79.50.
Lugg Pickup is perfect if you want to sit back and relax. You get two movers and a pickup truck with a 6ft flat bed.
$45 base price + $1.62 per labor minute
Let's assume the couch you purchased on Facebook marketplace is located on the third floor of an apartment building.
If it takes 40 minutes to load the couch in the vehicle at the pick-up location, you will spend 40 x $1.62 = $64.80.
If it takes 25 minutes to off-load the couch into a room of your choice at the destination address, the cost would be 25 x $1.62 = $40.50.
In this case, the total Labor cost of using the Lugg Pickup option would be:
$64.80 at pickup + $40.50 at drop-off for a total of $105.30 in Labor costs. Add the base price of $45 and your all out cost is $150.30.
Lugg van is ideal if you want to move a room full of stuff, such as moving a full living, bedroom or dinning room set. You get two dedicated movers on your schedule who will wrap your items.
$99 base price + $2.02 per labor minute
Let's assume you are moving several heavy items to the nearby storage facility, and instead of renting a U-Haul, you book a Lugg Van.
If it takes 90 minutes to load the heavy items in the van at the pick-up location, you will spend 90 x $2.02 = $181.80.
If it takes another 60 minutes to off-load the items your storage unit at the destination address, the cost would be 60 x $2.02 = $121.20.
In this case, the total Labor cost of using the Lugg Pickup option would be:
$181.80 at pickup + $121.20 at drop-off for a total of $303 in Labor costs. Add the base price of $99 and your all out cost is $402.
Lugg XL is perfect if you are moving your entire apartment, a small office, or an oversized item such as such as machine equipment. You get two dedicated professional movers to complete the whole job for you.
$128 base price + $2.30 per labor minute
Imagine you're moving from a small apartment in San Francisco to a more affordable one near the San Bruno supermarket. Your current apartment has three flights of stairs, and you decide to go with Lugg XL over local movers in the area to save money.
If it takes 2 hours (assuming no breaks) to load your apartment in the Lugg XL, you will spend 120 minutes x $2.30 = $276
If it takes another 2 hours, again, assuming no breaks to off-load the items at the destination address, the cost would be 120 minutes x $2.30 = $276
In this case, the total Labor cost of using the Lugg XL option would be:
$276 at pickup + $276 at drop-off for a total of $552 in Labor costs. Add the base price of $128 and your all out cost is $680.
Lugg box is the biggest option Lugg provides, and can be a great option if you need more space for your moving needs.
$167 base price + $3.00 per labor minute
Using the same example as above, we get the following labor cost breakdown
If it takes 2 hours (assuming no breaks) to load your apartment in the Lugg Box, you will spend 120 minutes x $3.00 = $360
If it takes another 2 hours to off-load the items at the destination address, the cost would again be $360
The total Labor costs using the Lugg Box option would be $720 ($360x2). Adding their base price of $167 would result in an all out cost of $887.
